When I opened Hylan Design 20 years ago, it was with the intention of designing cabinets and furniture for very particular needs.

Experience has taught me that the best way to do that is with the full participation of the client, from the initial design to the final installation. That process takes time, but results in the highest quality product available because the customer is aware, and frequently witnesses, the acts of construction and installation. Clients, in effect, become more than just owners. They are collaborators, who, if they desire, have a literal hand in the creation of a cabinet, a piece of furniture, a new kitchen, a home office fixture, a fireplace surround or any other number of items that they'll use for years.

We've designed, built and installed pieces for residential and business clients throughout the Chicago area and around the country. Our employees are veteran craftsmen working with the best tools and materials available. Our suppliers are trusted and reliable.

Hylan provides a clean, safe and sophisticated shop environment where its employees can work at their chosen craft and grow as artisans while at the same time earning a good wage with a broad benefit package.
